Dr. Monique Wasunna is a physician and an infectious disease and tropical medicine specialist with a pointed interest in neglected diseases and clinical trials. Among her previous positions she has stood out with leadership positions at the Kenya Medical Research Institute (KEMRI) as Chief Research Officer, Assistant Director of Research, Director of the Centre for Clinical Research and Acting Director. As founding member and former Chair of the Leishmaniasis East Africa Platform (LEAP), she promoted clinical research for leishmaniasis and capacity building in the region. She is currently the Director of Drugs for Neglected Diseases Initiative Africa Regional Office.
