Dr. Pontiano Kaleebu is a physician, clinical immunologist, HIV/AIDS researcher, and an academic and medical administrator. He is the executive director of the Uganda Virus Research Institute (UVRI) and oversees top managerial responsibilities at the Ministry of Health. He also leads a number of national and regional networks including the EDCTP East African Networks of Excellence. Dr. Kaleebu is co-Director of the African Partnership for Chronic Disease Research (APCDR) and the Uganda Medical Informatics Centre (UMIC). He is currently the Executive Director, Uganda Virus Research Institute.
