Dr. Martin Muita

Dr. Martin Muita is the Senior Public Health Advisor for the United Kingdom Health Security Agency International Health Regulations Strengthening Programme (UK HSA-IHR Programme) based at the Africa Centres for Disease Control and Prevention (Africa CDC). Dr. Muita has extensive field experience in public health emergencies preparedness and response, including in humanitarian crises settings. He has worked with several international organizations, including CARE International, the World Health Organization (WHO) and the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR). Dr. Muita currently leads the PHE-IHR Programme portfolio that includes workforce development, including the Kofi Annan Global Public Health Leadership Programme (KAGPHLP), emergency preparedness and response, disease surveillance and one health. Dr Muita, an effective public health leader, is passionate about Africa’s new public health order as the vehicle to attain and maintain continental public health security.
